Which are the biggest conventions in America?

San Diego Comic-Con (SDCC), Dragon Con, New York Comic Con, Anime Expo, and Gen Con are consistently among the largest. Each draws well over 50,000 attendees and sells out months in advance.

How far ahead should I plan for a mega convention?

Start 6 to 12 months out. Hotel blocks near the venue sell out before badges do at many mega cons. Badge registration often sells out within hours. Set calendar reminders for registration dates and book hotels the day the block opens.

How much does a mega convention cost?

A realistic solo weekend budget is $500 to $800 or more. Badge prices are higher ($60 to $100+), hotels near the venue run $150 to $250 per night, and food at the convention center is expensive. Use the convention budget calculator to plan.

Is a mega convention too much for a first-timer?

It can be overwhelming, but plenty of people start with a mega con and love it. The key is to not try to see everything. Pick 3 to 4 priorities per day, wear comfortable shoes, and give yourself permission to leave the floor when you need a break.
