Faux fur colors vary by dye lot, monitor calibration, and lighting conditions. Always order physical swatches from the supplier before buying full yardage.
How it works
This is a color prediction tool, not an exact match. I extract dominant colors from supplier product photos using color clustering algorithms and rank matches using CIEDE2000, the same perceptual color distance formula used in industrial paint matching. I validated the extraction against manufacturer Pantone codes from MofuMofu and achieved an average ΔE of 3.6 (excellent). A ΔE under 5 means the difference is only noticeable side by side.
Colors vary by monitor, lighting, and dye lot. Always order physical swatches before buying yardage. Each result links directly to the supplier product page so you can order swatches.
How the fur matcher works
Pick the target color
Click a pixel from your fursona reference sheet, character art, an existing fur swatch, or a photo of a fursuit you want to match. You can also paste a hex code from any design tool.
Match against extracted colors
Each fur in the database has 3 to 5 dominant colors pulled from product photos. The tool compares your target against all of them using CIEDE2000 Delta-E, so even multi-toned furs can match.
Order swatches first
Fur looks different in person than on screen. Pile direction, lighting, and dye lot variation all shift the color. Use the shortlist to order swatches, then decide on yardage.
What this is good for
If you are matching a fursona reference sheet, character art, or trying to find replacement fur for a repair, this gets you from "what color is that?" to "which furs should I swatch?" without scrolling through every product page.
It works for cosplay, plushies, and textile art too. Anything that uses faux fur benefits from a shorter, targeted shopping list.

Tanjiro Kamado
~6wDemon Slayer's water-breathing hero, built from the green-and-black checkered haori down to the hanafuda earrings. The haori is the signature piece, it needs clean seams and a pattern scale that reads on camera, while the black wig requires burgundy-dyed tips and structured front bangs. This is an intermediate build for someone who can sew straight seams and follow a wig styling tutorial. The forehead scar and leg wraps add the finishing touches that take it from a costume to a character. 8 components, 15 materials, about 6 weeks, $120 to $350.

Reze
~7wChainsaw Man's Bomb Devil in two forms: the human school uniform and the full hybrid transformation. The uniform is a tailored dark blazer, pleated gray skirt, and white blouse with red tie. The Bomb Devil form adds a sculpted metal mask and dynamite waist panel. The harness system with chains, ammo pouches, and the amber-red wig with soft waves are the make-or-break details. 8 components, 15 materials, 13-step build plan, ~7 weeks, $100 to $300.

Douma
~8wUpper Moon Two from Demon Slayer: the layered kimono with lotus and fan motifs, paired rainbow war fans, a long blonde wig with iridescent tips, and multicolored stained-glass eyes. This is a multi-discipline advanced build combining garment sewing, prop construction, wig gradient styling, and theatrical makeup. The rainbow gradient on the fans and the painted kimono patterns are what separate a memorable Douma from a costume-shop purchase. 7 components, 14 materials, about 8 weeks, $180 to $420.

Doctor Doom
~7wMarvel's greatest villain in his iconic green cloak and metal mask: a full armor build with a custom EVA foam mask, sculpted chest and shoulder plates, structured green hood, and gold gauntlets. This is an advanced project spanning foam shaping, armor attachment systems, and precision painting. 6 components, 14 materials, ~7 weeks, $180-420 budget.
