What wins: craftsmanship over complexity
Judges look for clean execution first. Smooth foam seams, even paint, secure attachments, and well-finished edges score higher than ambitious builds with visible hot glue, unpainted seams, or wobbly props.
- Seam quality: edges should be flush, primed, and painted. No raw foam showing.
- Paint finish: smooth base coat, clean weathering, no drips or brush marks on visible surfaces.
- Structural integrity: nothing wobbles, droops, or falls off during the walk-on.
- Detail work: buckles, rivets, gems, and trim are attached cleanly and consistently.
