How do I use the fur palette database?

Browse the fur catalog using filters for supplier, pile type, and color family. Click any swatch to add it to your palette (up to 8 colors). When you are happy with your picks, hit 'Use palette' to start a fursuit project with those colors pre-loaded.

Which fur suppliers are included?

The catalog has 3118 faux furs from 14 suppliers including Howl Fabrics, FursuitSupplies.com, Furlab Supply, BigZ Fabrics, MofuMofu, Stoffhummel, CanFur, Hairymann's, MeowFursuits, Creature Fabrics, MieMieFur, Carniv Creations (UK), eFutro (EU), and Bartfeld (AU). Every swatch links directly to the supplier product page so you can order swatches or yardage.

Can I buy fur directly from this tool?

The palette database links to each supplier's product page. Click the external link icon on any swatch to visit the supplier site where you can order swatches and yardage. Costumary is not a fur retailer.

Why should I order swatches before buying yardage?

Screen colors are approximations. Dye lots shift between production runs, pile direction changes how light reflects, and your monitor calibration affects what you see. A $5 swatch saves you from a $200 mistake.

What is the difference between this and the Fur Color Matcher?

The Fur Color Matcher takes a photo or hex code and finds the closest fur matches using color distance algorithms. The palette database lets you browse the full catalog visually, pick furs you like, and build a multi-color palette for your build. Use the matcher when you have a specific target color, and the database when you are exploring.

What pile types are available?

The catalog includes long pile, shag, luxury shag, teddy, minky, fox, sherpa, mongolian, and extra long. Use the pile type filter to narrow results to the texture you need for each part of your build.
