Agott Cosplay
Agott in the full Witch Hat Atelier apprentice outfit: the teal pointed hat with the white front triangle and gold tassel, the double-breasted front panel, the cape with the quilted white shoulder band and pompom ties, the cream underdress, and her short curly black-purple hair. The cloak patterning is the hard part, because the cape and front panel are separate layers that pull on each other. 8 components, 15 materials, ~6 weeks, $140-300.

Build guide
Order your teal swatches before you buy a single yard. The teal that matches the anime on your monitor will look like a swimming pool once it's in your hands, and a whole r/CosplayHelp thread is people learning that the expensive way. I picked mine at Mood Fabrics on Los Angeles Street in downtown LA, holding three linens up to the window by the cutting table, and I still went one shade greener than I thought I wanted. Go greener. It reads right in photos.
Agott wears the same apprentice outfit as Coco and Tetia. That's good news and bad news. Good, because there are real patterns for it now. Bad, because the only thing separating you from "generic Witch Hat Atelier apprentice" is short, dense, very curly black hair with a purple cast. Don't buy a loose-wave wig and hope. Either buy one that's already tightly curled or plan an evening with small rollers and a steamer.
Now the part that actually decides whether this costume works: the cloak is two garments, not one. There's a double-breasted front panel with six buttons, and behind it a full cape with that quilted white band across the shoulders. Sew them as one piece hanging from the collar and the cape drags backward all day. You'll spend the con tugging it forward while the collar saws at your neck. I watched someone at Anime Expo last July do exactly this in a bought set, one hand permanently on her throat.
What fixes it is boring. Cut the cape as three quarter-circle panels joined with French seams, which is how MeltingMirror built her Agott and why hers swings so nicely. Tape the back yoke with twill tape, because a cape that size stretches the yoke out of shape in an afternoon. Then build a hidden support flap, teal on the outside and backed with cotton, that sits under the front panel. The cape and the white shoulder band hang from that flap, not the collar. Add sew-in snaps where the cape lands on each shoulder. Mock all of it up in cheap cotton first. I didn't on my first pass and recut the front panel twice.
Smaller stuff. The white band is two layers of thin sweatshirt knit with quilting batting between, topstitched with a lightning stitch so it puffs. The pompoms on the black ribbon ties are white yarn wrapped about 60 times around a dinner fork, tied in the middle, then snipped and trimmed. Don't forget the two black stripes on the front panel. Everyone forgets them.
The hat is easier than it looks. Interline the cone with 2mm EVA foam, cover it in the same teal, add the white front triangle with a small gold button at its point, and hang the gold tassel off the tip. Then glue snap barrettes inside the rim. One of the busiest Agott threads on r/WitchHatAtelier is someone asking how to keep the hat on, and barrettes were the answer that worked.
Budget is $140 to $300. Teal fabric is the big line at around $55 for 4 to 5 yards, the cream underdress fabric is about $30, and the wig and shoes eat most of the rest. Six weeks is comfortable if you sew on weekends. If you're short on time, buy an off-white robe for the underdress and put every spare hour into the cloak.

Pattern Plan
Real sewing patterns for each piece of the Agott costume: the commercial base to start from, a free alternative where one exists, and the exact modifications that turn the base into the character-accurate piece.
Teal apprentice cape

Modifications for teal apprentice cape: Agott wears the standard apprentice cloak, so cut the shell as drafted in a green-leaning teal. Make the white shoulder band from two layers of thin sweatshirt knit with quilting batting between, topstitched with a lightning stitch, instead of a flat single layer. Use six 32mm dark brown buttons, swap the tie tassels for white yarn pompoms on black satin ribbon, and run twill tape across the back yoke before attaching the cape.

Modifications for teal apprentice cape: Cut the cloak in teal and the detail pieces in white knit backed with batting so the shoulder band reads quilted. Close the detachable front with snaps rather than working buttonholes, add two black ribbon stripes to the front panel, and use the pattern's pointed hat pieces for the cone. Rated advanced, so mock up the front panel in scrap first.
Whichever base you use, hang the cape and shoulder band from a hidden support flap under the front panel, not from the collar, or the cape slides back and chokes you.
Cream underdress with buttoned cuffs

Modifications for cream underdress with buttoned cuffs: Cut it in cream cotton-linen or raw silk. Shorten the skirt so it ends just below the knee and peeks out under the cloak. Agott's collar is dark brown, so cut the collar in dark twill or skip it and make a separate pointed faux collar that snaps to the cloak. The pattern calls for 25 buttons; the cuff rows are the ones that show, so spend your button budget there.
No-sew route: an off-white robe from Holy Clothing hemmed to knee length works under the cloak.
Teal apprentice pointed hat
Modifications for teal apprentice pointed hat: Cover the cone in the same teal as the cloak, cut the accent triangle in white, put a small gold shank button at the triangle's top point and a gold tassel on the tip. Use 2mm EVA foam instead of buckram for a lighter hat, measure your head over the wig, and glue or sew 2-4 snap barrettes inside the rim.
