parking
ACE Parking runs a lottery for convention center permits (enter by late May). Take the San Diego Trolley Blue Line instead.
food
The Gaslamp Quarter is a 5-minute walk with dozens of restaurants. Avoid 12:30-2 PM peak or expect 45+ minute waits.
hotels
Mission Valley hotels (trolley-accessible, ~5 miles) are significantly cheaper. SDCC runs a free shuttle with stops in Mission Valley.
layout
Events spill into adjoining hotels (Marriott, Hilton Bayfront). Rooms don't clear between panels, so plan back-to-back in the same room.
weather
July in San Diego is mild (70-80F) but the sun is strong. Hall H outdoor lines have no shade and can require overnight camping.
